Benchekroun, Ghita

Dr. Ghita Benchekroun is a veterinary specialist in internal medicine with a focus on endocrinology. She obtained a degree in veterinary medicine from the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort in 2004, and further specialized in internal medicine. She became an ECVIM specialist in internal medicine in 2012.

Currently serving as an associate professor at the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort, Dr. Benchekroun contributes to veterinary education and internal medicine research. Her academic contributions include developing the curriculum, mentoring students, interns, and residents, and practicing internal medicine in the teaching hospital. She is particularly dedicated to the advancement of veterinary endocrinology and the academic growth of future veterinarians and future specialists in internal medicine.

Prior to her current appointment, she completed a residency in small animal medicine at the University of Cambridge, enhancing her clinical and diagnostic skills. She continued her research education and received a PhD from University Paris Est, Sciences de la vie et de la santé in 2015. In 2023, she obtained her authorization to supervise research from the same university (HDR, habilitation à diriger la recherche).

Her main area of publication concerns endocrine diseases and specifically adrenal diseases. She recently co-authored a retrospective study about idiopathic hypercalcemia in cats and the efficacy of alendronate treatment.
